The Australian Centre for Ancient DNA (ACAD), at Adelaide University, is currently undertaking a project to collect the DNA from Australians who were born before 1945, or who have parents and grandparents who were born in Australia, in order to build a profile of early 20th century Australia. This database will be used to help with identifying soldiers who died overseas in various conflicts in the 20th century, as well as with unsolved missing persons cases.
