DNA studies have proved that Aboriginal Australians are the world’s most ancient civilisation. Genome studies at the University of Cambridge have confirmed that Aboriginal and Papuan ancestors left Africa about 72,000 years ago and settled in the great sub-continent Sahul. By 31,000 years ago most Aboriginal communities were genetically distant from one another which created great genetic diversity between groups living in the eastern and western parts of Australia.
